ABANG-LINGKOD Partylist Representative Stephen Paduano confirmed yesterday, May 24, the approval of a House bill proposing for the township of Salvador Benedicto on third reading.

The measure is expected to bring more development to the town.

Paduano said he expects the passage of the bill in Congress very soon and that he will ask Senator Cynthia Villar to adopt his version of the bill at the Senate.

He explained that Salvador Benedicto township bill means the delineation of 200 hectares of its township that will cover Barangay Igmayaan and some portion of Barangay Kumaliskis.

Two thirds of the total area of Salvador Benedicto belongs to The North Negros Natural Park.

The Protected Area Management Board and Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. have already agreed with the delineation so we passed it on the committee level, Paduano said.

Township means they can already develop the municipal government and possibly relocate it because its present location is hilly. The municipal government could also develop its public market and the public plaza.

"The areas that will be covered will be considered alienable disposable that could already be developed like building hotels and other businesses upon compliance of the Environmental Compliance Certificate," Paduano further said.
