Cop on AWOL killed by 4 assailants in Bacolod

A POLICEMAN who went on absent without official leave (AWOL) was killed by four unidentified assailants at corner Burgos-Circumferential Road, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Patrolman Eric Alcosaba, of East Homes, Barangay Mansilingan.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim bought a food in a fast food chain at Circumferential Road around 3:50 p.m. when the unidentified suspects fired at him several times.

The victim, who was previously assigned at Police Station 7 and was transferred to Mindanao, sustained multiple wounds and died on the spot.

He was reassigned to Mindanao after his name was included in the supplemental affidavit of the slain former drug bagman Ricky Serenio.

Police recovered from scene of the crime several empty shells of unidentified firearms.

The suspects fled using white vehicle.

Police Station 4 is still conducting further investigation to determine the motive and identity of the suspects.
