THE Talisay City police are still puzzled as to the motive behind the brutal killing of a construction worker whose body was found at Hacienda Mana-ul in Barangay Matab-ang shortly after midnight Friday, June 24.

Talisay City Police deputy chief Lieutenant Marion Vicente Buenafe said Hermar Samorillo, 31, of Purok Datiles in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City was identified by his family through the pictures posted on social media.

Samorillo, who was initially unidentified when his bloodied body was found beside the road, was last seen alive by his family on Wednesday, Buenafe said, adding that they will check the victim’s background.

He said they will coordinate with Police Station 10 in Bacolod if Samorillo has illegal drug involvement or if he has other cases.

The Talisay City police earlier theorized that Samorillo was killed in the area where his body was found because they recovered two cartridge cases of a .40 caliber pistol and a slug of the same firearm at the crime scene.

The police are also looking into the possibility of two or more suspects who did the crime but they do not have a witness as there are no nearby houses.

Investigation showed that the victim’s face was wrapped with a cloth, both his hands were tied on his back and had no upper garment when his body was found.

He sustained through-and-through gunshot wounds on the neck, which caused his immediate death.
