“THE vaccination centers should be managed very well to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Bacolod City.”

This was stressed by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. after hundreds of people waited in a long queue outside and inside the malls in Bacolod City Monday, July 26.

Gamboa said the Bacolod City Emergency Operation Center (EOC) should address this concern because it violates the health protocol like the social distancing since many people now want to be vaccinated.

Some Bacolodnons expressed their disappointment Monday, July 26, and posted it on social media for alleged unorganized vaccination centers in SM City Bacolod and Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

Gamboa said the vaccination should be done by scheduling and the venues should be prepared to avoid the long queue.

“The EOC should accept only those who have notices or schedule of their vaccination, especially in malls to avoid the long queue of the people. They should make necessary adjustments,” he said.

Aside from the malls, the City Government also opened vaccination centers in various barangays in the city.

For her part, City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the EOC, said in a statement that they will no longer cater the walk-ins in vaccination centers starting Tuesday, July 27.

She said at 12 noon Monday, July 26, the vaccination centers at Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Robinsons Place, and SMX Convention Center have reached their maximum number of vaccines for the day.

“We urged the public to wait to be notified of their schedule through text by the vaccination team. You may also go to the barangay vaccination centers to avail free Covid-19 vaccines,” she added.
