SAN Carlos City Mayor Rene Gustilo revealed over the weekend that the number of active Covid-19 cases in the city continues to drop.

Based on the latest data released by the Provincial Incident Management Team of Negros Occidental, the city only had 54 active cases.

Gustilo said contact tracing, swabbing, and consistency is the formula they are using and has been proven effective in battling Covid-19.

At its peak, San Carlos City was previously one of the worse hit local government units in Negros Occidental with over 300 cases.

Overall, San Carlos City had a total of 1,705 Covid-19 cases since March of last year, of which 1,588 recovered and 65 were fatalities.

As for the city's vaccination drive, the San Carlos City Health Office is currently inoculating those under the A1 (Frontline health workers), A2 (Senior Citizens), and A3 (Persons with comorbidities).

The city is also on track to start inoculating those under the A4 (other frontline workers) in June.

The vaccination drive in the city is also picking up, with 407 receiving their inoculation on Friday and another 372 on Thursday.
