A PRISONER of Police Station 2 died at a hospital due to multiple organ failure Saturday, April 6.

Police Captain Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 2, said Esmeniano Gecano, who was charged with a drug-related case, was placed under police custody after he was arrested by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) in a buy-bust in Barangay 8 on March 30.

He complained of having a stomach ache on April 4, which prompted the police to rush him to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

However, he died after being confined at the hospital for two days, Estopa said.

Estopa said the detainee’s illness may have caused his death.

He was even checked by a rescue team a few days ago, after he suffered from asthma.

However, despite the initial findings of the physician on the cause of his death, Estopa said they will wait for the official medical findings.

Estopa said they already informed the CDEU about the death of the detainee. (GYM)
