A DETAINEE was found hanging inside the comfort room of the custodial facility of La Castellana Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental early Monday, October 8.

Police identified the fatality as Paulino Pasague, 58, of Barangay Nato.

Julio Calo, a casual employee of the town, who was recently arrested for illegal drugs, sought the assistance of the on-duty policemen when he found the alleged suicide of his co-detainee past 2 a.m., police records showed.

Police Officer 3 Michael John Lacson and Police Officer 2 Jun Pol Baltazar immediately checked the facility and saw Pasague hanging on the grills, with a rope on his neck.

The policemen cut the rope and pulled him down. Pasague was rushed to a rural health unit, where he was declared dead.

Medical results showed that there was no foul play but he will be subjected for a post-mortem examination.

Pasague was arrested on October 3 for Acts of Lasciviousness and rape, both in relation to Republic Act 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

He was reportedly suffering from a disease and depression, according to his co-detainee. (GYM)
