Dindo to file direct assault, grave misconduct raps vs Kalaw

Merlinda A. Pedrosa

BACOLOD City Councilor Dindo Ramos is now preparing the direct assault and grave misconduct complaints against his fellow councilor, Claudio “Kalaw” Puentevella, who punched him last week.

Ramos said he is gathering all the documents such as medical certificate, police blotter report, among others for the filing of the case within a month.

Last week, the members of the August body were discussing the request of the mayor for an authority to sign on the proposed contract between the IPM Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC) and the City Government for the construction of Bacolod City Cell No. 2 in the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa.

This led to an exchange between Puentevella and Ramos which quickly escalated into a heated argument, prompting the city vice mayor to call for a recess.

Two days after the incident, Puentevella issued an apology.

Puentevella said the incident was a humbling lesson and it is something he is not proud of.

“I would like to express my deepest apologies to our people and my colleagues at the City Council. What happened was unfortunate and I take full responsibility for my actions. I am not perfect and like many of us, I have my own flaws,” he said.

Ramos said it’s good that Puentevella admitted that he did a mistake, but the apology is not directed to him.

“I’m serious to file charges against him and let’s wait for the court to decide on it,” he said.
