NEGRENSES whose houses were either damaged or destroyed by Typhoon Odette in December 2021 will be receiving housing assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA) this week.

The distribution of housing assistance worth P91 million for Negros Occidental was temporarily suspended due to election banning, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.

Families affected by the typhoon will receive P5,000 each, he said, adding that every local government unit in the province submitted a list of their qualified recipients.

Lacson said the Provincial Government received a copy of the NHA Memorandum of Agreement last April 20.

The governor pointed out that the province has opted to wait until the election is over and preferred not to seek an exemption as the process also takes a long time.
