Drug busts net over P600K shabu; most wanted drug personality nabbed

AN ESTIMATED P639,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate joint drug busts of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG)-Western Visayas, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and Police Station 4 at Barangay Villamonte in Bacolod City Tuesday morning, November 23, 2021.

The operations also led to the arrest of Rafael Martir, 43, and Janice Palo, 36, both residents of Gonzaga Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Martir was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer at Lapu-Lapu Street at about 10 a.m.

Police recovered from his possession 29 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 64 grams with estimated market value P435,000, the P11,000 boodle money, and P1,000 cash.

Palo was also arrested at Lapu-Lapu Street.

Police recovered from Palo’s possession six sachets of shabu weighing 30 grams with estimated market value of P204,000, the P11,000 boodle money, P1,000 cash.

Gabana said Palo was identified as the most wanted drug personality of the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas while Martir was also identified as a high value individual in Bacolod City.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 4.

They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
