Drug busts yield over P100,000 shabu

THE two-day anti-illegal drug operations in Bacolod City since Tuesday, July 19, yielded over P100,000 worth of suspected shabu.

It also resulted in the arrest of Elmark Sonido, 20, of Purok Tahong and Melvin Emolaga, 28, of Purok Balinday both in the city’s Barangay 2, and Giovannie Agdana, 51, of Purok Nami-Nami in Barangay Banago.

The police said Sonido was arrested by operatives of Police Station 2 led by Captain Paul Vincent Pendon after he sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer at his residence at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, July 20.

Pendon said they recovered from Sonido’s possession 25 sachets of the banned substance weighing 500 grams valued at P60,000 and the P200 marked money.

On Tuesday, Emolaga was also apprehended by the operatives of Police Station 2 at his residence with five sachets of suspected shabu weighing four grams and valued at P27, 200 and the P500 marked money.

Earlier that evening, Agdana was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 3 led by Captain Armilyn Vargas after he sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer at his residence.

Some 10 sachets of the illegal substance weighing 2.3 grams valued at P15, 640 were seized from Agdana upon his arrest.

Vargas said Agdana, who was identified as a street level individual, was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 2 and 3 and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
