NEGROS Occidental Representative Ma. Lourdes Arroyo continues to assist the displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers in the Fifth District through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

For the third quarter implementation of Tupad in the Fifth District, 1,050 beneficiaries from 30 barangays in six local government units (LGUs) will be given emergency employment for a total of 10 working days where they can earn P395 per day on top of the P350 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and P50 GSIS insurance.

Arroyo said the cooperation of barangay officials and DOLE officials are key factors for the success of Tupad in Quinto Distrito.

"The DOLE-Tupad program has been successful in our district having helped 3,194 beneficiaries last year through the cooperation of our barangay officials by facilitating for early compliance of the requirements needed for the program. Likewise, the DOLE officials who are working with our office for the implementation of this program is also one of the key factors for its success," Arroyo said.

The Tupad program is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work.
