Personnel of the Fourth Special Operations Unit Philippine National Police Maritime Group led by its officer-in-charge Police Major Don Archie Suspeñe with Sipalay City Police Station and Bantay Dagat seize about 7,000 kilograms of fossilized and fresh giant clams, locally known as taklobo, worth almost half a million pesos from a suspect at Sitio Ondol Pasil Brgy. Cayhagan Sipalay City Negros Occidental yesterday morning, October 26. Authorities said giant clams are endangered species of shell and possession of these are clear violation of Section 102 of Republic Act 10654, an act to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
