THE Social Security System (SSS) Bacolod Branch assured on Wednesday, April 3, that its members and employees are safe after receiving a bomb threat last April 2.

One of the SSS employees received a bomb threat through a text message at around 6:17 a.m. from an unidentified person. The employee immediately relayed the information to the branch officials for coordination with different security units.

The management required all members and employees who were present to leave the building for their safety.

Police Station 2, led by Police Captain Leo G. Estopa, and together with the Special Weapons and Tactics team from the Bacolod City Police Office led by Master Sergeant Erwin Villanueva, immediately searched the building. A canine team led by Police Officer 3 Rommel Alog, together with ASN John Paul Zerrudo, also arrived to secure the area.

At 10:20 am, the building was officially cleared from any explosive materials. Members and employees were allowed to enter the building and the branch immediately resumed its normal operations, a statement from the SSS Bacolod branch stated. (CNC)
