BACOLOD City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran will hold a caucus meeting with the newly elected councilors on July 4, 2022, two days before their first regular session on July 6.

Familiaran said Monday, June 27, that their meeting will be held on July 4 to determine the committee chairmanships at the city council, which will be approved on their first regular session.

“It’s up to the majority (of the councilors) to choose what committees to chair and the remaining committees will be given to the minority,” he said, adding that they will also discuss during the meeting the internal rules.

The vice mayor noted that the internal rules will also be approved during their first regular session and is subject to amendments within 90 days.

Familiaran said the newly elected councilors will occupy their respective offices at the Bacolod Government Center on June 30, 2022.

Reelected Councilor Renecito Novero, floor leader, said it is a good development that the vice mayor is meeting the newly elected councilors.

He currently chairs committees on education, trade and industry, and urban poor housing and resettlement.

“We have internal rules and our vice mayor wants us to refresh, especially the new members of the city council. It’s a big help in deliberative process and working arrangement of the council,” Novero added.
