FILIPINO-AMERICAN comedian Jo Koy was in Bacolod City Friday, January 6, for a quick trip to his “sister’s hometown.”

In a series of Instagram stories, he shared that he is back in the country for a vacation with his family.

He visited his relatives from his mother's side in La Union, and his sister's hometown, Bacolod.

Koy, who rose to fame after sharing stories and antics of his Filipina mother in his comedy acts, was also spotted in a coffee shop in Bacolod where he was mobbed for pictures by his eager fans.

He was also seen riding a jeepney going to Barangay Alangilan.

Road project

Koy’s visit to Bacolod was also to inaugurate the P1.5 million road project he donated to Alangilan National High School (ANHS) in Barangay Alangilan.

Veneranda Ortono, former officer-in-charge of ANHS, said that Koy donated P1.593 million to the school in August last year for its 589-meter road project inside the premises.

The project was completed in December, she added.

During the inauguration, Koy was joined by his son, other family members, and the school officials and teachers led by principal Llenamar Melchor.

Aside from the road project in the school, Koy also funded the ongoing construction of a library at Rafael Alunan Elementary School in the barangay, Ortono said.

Meanwhile, Koy and his group immediately flew out late Friday afternoon.
