AFTER fighting for her life for almost two days, the nine-year-old girl who was hit with a stone on the head by her father’s friend died at a hospital in Bacolod City Monday, November 29.

Police Major Leo Estopa, commander of Police Station 6, said they were informed that the girl succumbed while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Estopa said the results of the medical examination showed that the victim has lacerations on her private part.

It is an indication that she was molested by the suspect, Sherwin Trava, 32, of Barangay Lag-asa, Bago City, he said.

Trava surrendered to Bago City Police Station on Saturday, November 27, a few hours after he injured the child and left her at a vacant lot in City Heights Subdivision, Barangay Taculing.

Trava initially admitted that he hit the victim four times claiming that the child pissed him off.

The investigation showed that on Friday, November 26, the suspect went to the victim’s house at Barangay Banago in Bacolod City and brought her with him to buy bread.

It added that instead of buying bread, the two went to Barangay Taculing where Trava was supposed to meet his girlfriend.

But he got mad after seeing his girlfriend entering a motel with somebody else. This, he said, triggered him to commit the crime, Estopa said.

Trava apologized to the victim’s family, but the latter is resolved to file appropriate charges against him.
