NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson signed Tuesday, June 30, an executive order (EO) extending the duration of modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in the province until July 15.

Lacson's EO 20-28, Series of 2020 states that to this date, the province has 83 confirmed cases of Covid-19 while the entire country has more than 36,000 Covid-19 cases.

Because of the rising number of positives in our country, there is still a need to place the province under MGCQ, he said.

It can be recalled that Resolution 40, Series of 2020, dated May 27 of the Inter-Agency Task Force-EID, it classified the province as a low-risk administrative province wherein an MGCQ shall be implemented starting June 1.

The province was placed under MGCQ under the provisions of EO 20-25, Series of 2020 titled "An Executive Order Placing the entire Province of Negros Occidental under MGCQ"" and extended under the provisions of EO 20-26, Series of 2020 titled "An EO Extending the MGCQ over the entire province until June 30."

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
