Governor warns illegal quarry operators

Sunnexdesk

THE Negros Occidental provincial government is warning persons or groups involved in illegal quarrying that it is not tolerating it.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that the provincial government will not allow violations and shortcuts in quarry operations. Permits have to be obtained.

The Provincial Environment Management Office will be on guard, he said.

Lacson noted that with the construction boom in Negros Occidental and in Bacolod City, there has been an increase in quarrying for sand and gravel.

There is nothing wrong with the demand increasing, the governor pointed out.

It only means progress in Negros Occidental, Lacson said, and we can see that with the construction of more hotels, condominiums and public works such as road, he added. (TDE)
