A LONE gunshot wound on the head ended the life of a hacienda security guard at Barangay Minapasok in Calatrava town, Negros Occidental past 10 p.m. Wednesday, November 30.

Major Lidawan Lumayen, chief of Calatrava town police, identified the victim as Ely Marcellana, 37, of Sitio Ga-as in the town’s Barangay Hinab-ongan.

Lumayen said the witnesses claimed that Marcellana and the unidentified suspect, who was his back rider, argued upon reaching Green Hills Street in Barangay Minapasok before the shooting took place.

The bullet exited through Marcellana’s left eye and he died at the Calatrava Municipal Health Office while the suspect used the victim’s motorcycle as his getaway vehicle.

Recovered from the crime scene were two cartridges of alleged 9-milileter caliber pistol, police records showed.

Meanwhile, in Himamaylan, Edwin Trestiza, 69 of Sitio Curoman in the city’s Barangay Buenavista was found dead with hack wounds at the nearby Sitio Saisi Thursday, December 2.

Investigation showed that a farmer, whose name the police withheld, saw the victim’s body past 8 a.m.
