SILAY City Mayor Mark Andrew Golez confirmed on Thursday, September 6, that Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito will attend the blessing of the Silay City public market on Friday, September 7.

Golez said that the public market is about 95 percent complete, adding that Ejercito has extended P5 million for the project.

After the blessing of the public market, Golez said Ejercito will also join him and the members of the Silay City Vendors Association in a boodle fight.

The modern Silay public market houses about 200 stalls for meat and chicken section.

Ejercito, who is the chairman of the Senate committee on housing, will also conduct a site inspection along with Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the National Housing Authority (NHA) housing project for the policemen, soldiers, firemen and jail personnel in Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City.

Around 1,500 homeless families in Negros Occidental who are members of Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay)-Negros have forcibly entered the premises of the said housing site last week.

The situation was addressed by the NHA with the intervention of the Bacolod City officials.
