Kabankalan tightens guard vs ASF, receives award

EVEN as Negros Occidental remains free from the African Swine Fever (ASF), Kabankalan City is tightening measures to guard its swine population against being infected with the disease.

Upon orders of Mayor Pedro Zayco and supported by Vice Mayor Raul Rivera, a checkpoint was put up at the city's demonstration farm from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. per report of the city Public Information's Office.

Hog raisers are required to inform personnel at the checkpoint of the point of origin of the hogs they are selling.

Kabankalan City was one of the awardees by the provincial government of Negros Occidental and the Provincial ASF Task Force during the 2nd anniversary of the task force in ceremonies at the Capitol recently.

The commendation award was presented to City Agriculture Office Wednesday, August 4 at Demo Farm with the presence of SPM Efren Gaspillo, Sr., SPM Rey Cordero, SPM Roger Regalia, SPM Helen Zafra, SPM Jeanna Cordova Genizera, SPM Celestino Dumaguete SPM Ramon Cordova and Executive Assistant Timothy A. Gargantiel.
