STARTING May 1 to 4, Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is the acting governor of Negros Occidental.

Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., with some Capitol department heads are at the Northern Territory in Australia for a business travel.

With Marañon are Provincial Planning and Development head Ma. Lina Sanogal; Provincial Investment Promotions consultant Rafael Coscolluela; Provincial Tourism head Cristine Mansinares and Cristina Orbecido, head of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center.

Gelvolea said Maranon was able to get the travel authority from the Department of Interior and Local Government based on the invitation of the Northern Territory government for a possible agricultural investment and transfer of technology.

“Based on our Local Government Code, we have the mandate to pursue our corporate mandate to look for possible investments that would come to and from Negros,” Gelvolea said.

"Governor (Marañon) and his team would like to promote Negros as an investment destination especially our tourism potentials," Gelvolea added.

The business sector is represented by Arcenio Barcelona. (TDE)
