DESPITE openly supporting the candidacy of former Vice President Leni Robredo during the elections, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Lascon lauded President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. as he formally assumes his post effective yesterday, July 1.

In a statement, Lacson said, the president was eloquent and his message was up to the mark as it discussed the key elements they expected from his inaugural address.

“His values and beliefs, were anchored on unity and humility, as he expressed by his statement that we are indivisible as one republic, and that he was not the instrument of change but it was the people that made it happen,” he said.

As for his visions for the country, Lacson added that Marcos had clearly acknowledged our common aspiration for peace and brighter future for our children.

The governor stressed that the new president made it clear his governing philosophy to focus on the future when he said that, “we do not look back, but ahead, and that there should be no looking back in anger or nostalgia.”

For the top official of the province, Marcos is “110 million reasons to be confident of the future”, adding that his faith in the Filipino, and his call to believe and have hope is the positivity we all need as they start a fresh mandate.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
