THE tandem of reelectionists Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer was officially endorsed by the United Negros Alliance (Unega) during its general assembly at the Manuel Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center in Bago City on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

The endorsement was contained in a resolution unanimously passed during the event.

A total of 178 of the 183 party members attended the assembly.

Lacson thanked the party for endorsing his reelection bid in partnership with Ferrer.

He assured Unega that all local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental will receive projects from the provincial government without any political color.

The governor added that he will work and cooperate with Ferrer to bring more services to Negrenses.

Lacson is allied with Love Negros while Ferrer is chairman of Unega.

Also in attendance during the general assembly were Fifth District Representative Marilou Arroyo, Abang Lingkod Representative and House Minority Leader Stephen Paduano and Second District Representative Leo Rafael Cueva.

During the 2019 elections, the Lacson-Ferrer tandem was unopposed.

The tandem was forged after both political groups agreed to commit to a coalition in 2018.

Unega has 13 incumbent mayors while Love Negros has 18.

Meanwhile, Paduano officially endorsed the reelection bid of La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan over her opponent Manuel Vera, who is the incumbent vice mayor.

He said there was already an agreement done several months ago before the election season between Nicor-Mangilimutan and Vera and it has to be honored.

Mangilimutan is seeking reelection for her last term in the May 2022 elections.
