THE possible Maranon versus Zayco showdown for the Presidency of the Philippine Councilors League-Negros Occidental Chapter may not happen.

Abang Lingkod Partylist Representative Stephen Paduano confirmed on Thursday, July 4, that Kabankalan City Councilor Miguel Zayco is no longer aspiring for the highest position of the PCL in the province.

Paduano said that Love-Negros is still looking for a possible candidate.

The PCL President will have a seat at the Provincial Board.

Paduano said that the PCL is not included in the agreement or merger between Love- Negros and the United Negros Alliance which was forged in the last May 13 elections.

UNEGA is reported to field Sagay City Councilor Arthur Maranon, son of former Governor Alfredo Maranon.

Paduano said that although majority of the members of the Provincial Board belongs to Love-Negros but they want to have more to get the two third majority which is 9 to 6 from the present which is 8 to 6.

He said that Love-Negros will be meeting this week or next week to discuss the matter.

The PCL will hold its regular election in August.
