Man killed, 2 hurt following collision in Silay

ONE person was killed, while two others were seriously injured after a dump truck collided with a tricycle along Normandia-Bagtic Intersection in Barangay Bagtic, Silay City Monday morning, June 3.

Police identified the fatality as Michael Quiatchon, 39, a resident of Barangay E. Lopez of the said city. The injured were named as Charisse Cobrado, 21, and Michael Andrade, 23, both residents of Victorias City.

Silay City deputy police chief, Police Captain Ramil Robles, said the truck driven by Julito Duterte, 56, of Danao City, Cebu was traveling north when he accidentally struck the tricycle which was heading east towards the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

Quiatchon, who was driving the motorcycle, was instantly killed on the spot after sustaining a fatal head injury, while rescuers rushed his passengers to the hospital for treatment.

Duterte surrendered to Silay City police after the incident.

Robles also noted that the area where the incident occurred was dark, which could have attributed to the collision. (TDE)
