A MAN was shot dead by his father’s enemy in Silay City, Negros Occidental at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of Silay City Police Station identified the victim as Rami Castillano, 21, of Sitio Cabug in the city’s Barangay Guinhalaran.

Darroca said Castillano succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his left armpit upon arrival at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in the city.

Investigation showed that Castillano’s father and brother were having a drinking session near their house when the suspect Danilo Datoon alias "Junior Alit," of the city’s Barangay Kapitan Ramon, passed by.

Darroca said a verbal tussle occurred between Datoon and Castillano’s father.

He said the suspect went home and returned with an improvised 12-gauge shotgun or “sulpak.”

But before reaching the house of the Castillanos, he met the victim along the way.

Darroca added that a commotion took place between Datoon and the victim until the former shot the latter.

The police official noted that it took a while before the victim was brought to the hospital as his family did not notice his wound right away since the area where the incident happened was not well-lighted.

Policemen recovered the firearm used by Datoon in shooting the victim.

The suspect evaded arrest. Homicide charges will be filed against him.
