Mayor, City Hall execs attend seminar on ‘smart cities’

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Councilor Archie Baribar, and three City Hall executives attended a one-day seminar on “Smart Urban Governance for Sustainable Cities and Communities” in Pasig, Metro Manila Tuesday, December 17.

The City Hall executives were City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan, Secretary to the Mayor Edward Joseph Cuansing, and MITCS (Management Information Technology Computer Services) head Ramon Delos Reyes.

The seminar, sponsored by the Development Academy of the Philippines, introduced the concept of smart city, including its main features and existing standards.

It also presented existing policies related to urban planning and management in the Philippines, the challenges and opportunities, and its implications to the agenda of building smart cities for the Filipinos in the future.

Ongoing initiatives on smart cities were also discussed to highlight the projects done in the country. (PR)
