MEGAWORLD said it is willing to give assistance to families of the two children who drowned in a drainage construction site in Barangay 41, Bacolod City on Sunday afternoon, September 23.

Police identified the fatalities as Robert John Corsino, 7, and Adrian Bagundo, 9, both residents of Barangay 27, while two other children aged six and eight years old survived.

Kevin Tan, chief strategy officer of Megaworld, said Monday, September 23, they were saddened after hearing the news and that they will coordinate with the families of the victims.

Tan said they are now reviewing their protocols and security measures to avoid similar incidents, adding they will deploy more security guards to secure the construction site.

Investigation showed that around 4 p.m., the four children went to Barangay 41 for bird hunting and when they saw the drainage with the water level of about seven to eight feet, they jumped.

Two of them drowned and were declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, while two others survived.

Police Station 4 is still conducting further investigation on the incident.
