A MOTORCYCLE rider died after he crashed into a Fuso truck along Lacson Street at Barangay Mandalagan in Bacolod City at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 16.

Police identified the fatality as Jundie Doroteo, 28, of Barangay Campo Santiago, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

Captain Armilyn Vargas, commander of Police Station 3, said yesterday, August 17, that Doroteo was driving his Kawasaki motorcycle toward the south direction when he bumped into a truck driven by Kensly Rojonan, 22, of Villa Lucasan Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan.

Doroteo sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.

Vargas said Doroteo, who was travelling from Talisay City, was beating the red light and crashed into the back portion of the truck.

She said the victim was wearing a non-standard helmet. Because of the strong impact, he did not survive.

She added Rojonan, who was on full-stop, also voluntarily surrendered at the station.

Vargas disclosed that they are still waiting for the family of the victim, while Rojonan will be released after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary period.

Vargas reminded all the motorists to observe the traffic rules, wear standard protective gears, and never drive while under the influence of alcohol to avoid any untoward incidents.*
