Motorcycle rider hits cop

A POLICEMAN was injured when a motorcycle rider tried to evade the checkpoint or Oplan Sita and bumped him at Bangga Hermilinda, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City Monday evening, November 11.

Injured was Patrolman Rodel Arca, 23, detailed at Police Station 7 and resident of Ilog, Negros Occidental.

Police Lieutenant Florentino Abalayan, chief of Police Station 7, said Tuesday that they were conducting Oplan Sita at about 10:15 p.m. when Ayan Lamintac, who was on board a motorcycle, tried to evade checkpoint and bumped Patrolman Arca, who was standing in the area.

He said Arca sustained minor injuries while Lamintac, 32, of Purok Katilingban, Barangay Mansilingan, also fell to the ground and was arrested.

He added that Lamintac, who was observed to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor, was over speeding when policemen flagged him to stop.

Instead of stopping, Lamintac attempted to escape and bumped Arca.

Arca’s issued firearm was also damaged.

Abalayan said violation for reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries and damage to property were also filed Tuesday before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Bacolod City against the suspect.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7. (MAP)
