BACOLOD. Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia delivers the welcome remarks at the opening ceremony of the 81st PIChE (Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers) National Convention at SMX Convention Center Bacolod yesterday. The national convention that runs until February 22, is hosted by PIChE Negros Occidental Chapter. It is attended by about 1,200 Filipino chemical engineers around the country. Leonardia thanked the PIChE, headed by its president Maricris Vines, for holding their national convention in the “City of Smiles,” saying, “We have been in a state of high spirits except when the coronavirus came, it admittedly dampened our spirits a bit. But when we were told that PIChE is going to come, you are for us like a light in the darkness.” (Contributed photo)
