NBI still faces ‘blank wall’ over death of NegOcc consultant

MORE than a year after the cold bloodied murder of former Negros Occidental Provincial Consultant Mariano Antonio Cui, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is still in search for individuals who could shed light on the crime that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Cui, who was the provincial consultant on hospital operations was shot to death in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City on April 12, 2021.

Cui was about to board his vehicle from his office when an unidentified gunman shot him from long range. The victim was hit in the chest.

Charina Magallanes Tan, Office-in-charge of the Provincial Information Office said the NBI is willing to receive any information to resolve Cui's case.

The reward for the arrest of the suspects behind the assassination of Cui has been increased by the provincial government of Negros Occidental from P1.5 million to 2 million.

"Any information that would lead to the capture of person, or individuals, behind his death, may relay it to the Atty. Renoir Baldovino, head of the National Bureau of Investigation- Bacolod District Office, at (O34)703-2931", the PIO said.
