THE Negrense film "Magikland" has garnered six awards during the virtual "Gabi ng Parangal" of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020 on Sunday, December 27, 2020.

The Best Musical Score was awarded to Emerzon Texon, who was the film's music composer.

The MMFF also awarded Richard Francia and Ryan Grimarez of Central Digital Lab for Best Visual Effects, while the film's production designer Ericson Navarro bagged Best Production Design.

Magikland also garnered the Best Virtual Float, as well as the FPJ Memorial Award.

The late Peque Gallaga, who was one of the producers, also received the Special Jury Prize.

On Friday, during the film's special screening attended by select members of the media, the late filmmaker's family and friends became emotional, pointing out Gallaga had not even witnessed the finished work.

Gallaga's family and friends were also very proud of the film, as it showcased the culture of the Negrense people.

The film also featured a scene of Gallaga's visual effect model wherein he took a final bow, and those in the special screening erupted in applause.

A total of P150 million was spent on the film and its state of the art visual effects and took almost two years to complete.
