GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson led the blessing and inauguration of the newly-constructed Central Philippines State University (CPSU)-Moises Padilla Campus Library in line with the university’s 3rd Month Convocation and Teacher’s Day Celebration on Monday, October 7.

Also present in the activity were Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Garcia, Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor, La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Manguilimutan, CPSU President Dr. Aladino Moraca, other local officials, faculty and staff.

Dr. Moraca said that CPSU, which started as an agricultural school in the province, is a steward of agricultural productivity and environmental protection in line with the Provincial Government’s priority development agenda.

Lacson said the existence of CPSU has changed the educational landscape of Negros Island by providing quality and accessible education with special focus on agriculture.

“Education is a very vital component of my administration and it is my priority to strengthen our educational policies,” the governor said.

“It is my utmost aspiration that all students regardless of economic and social status will have the same level of good quality education, that students from rural areas will have the same level of instruction as the students from the city,” he added.

Garcia thanked Lacson for the support of the Provincial Government and urged the students to focus hard on their studies to become productive members of the society.

The CPSU started as the Negros Occidental Agricultural School in 1946 and was named as the first agricultural institution in the country. (PR)
