GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson said about P197.7-million funds have been donated for relief assistance to the victims of Typhoon Odette in southern Negros Occidental.

Lacson, who led the distribution of relief assistance in Hinoba-an town Wednesday, January 19, said that of the amount, P2.9 million are from the private sector, P41 million from the Bureau of Treasury, P90 million from the National Housing Authority, and the rest are from the Provincial Government.

These are the funds on hand for distribution, Lacson said, adding that another P4.5 worth of roofing materials and food packs were distributed to 400 beneficiaries in Hinoba-an.

A total of 2,500 banana seedlings were also distributed to the typhoon victims, the governor also said.

The typhoon left at least P5 billion in damage, mostly to the province's agriculture sector.

Another wave of relief assistance distribution will be conducted at Ilog town, also in the southern portion of the province.

The Provincial Government is closely coordinating with other concerned local government units to get the list of those who are still needing aid.
