Negros Occidental sets airline passenger limit per day

Teresa D. Ellera

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is pushing to limit to only 150 passengers per flight of every airline per day landing at the Bacolod-Silay Airport, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

Diaz said the scheme is to prevent overcrowding at its quarantine facilities.

Commercial flights return to the province effective July 13.

Philippine Airlines will have flights from Monday to Friday, Cebu Pacific is from Tuesday to Thursday while AirAsia will have flights on Saturdays.

The schedule will be until the end of July.

Diaz said the Provincial Government will task the airline companies to obtain the required documents from their passengers who are returning to Negros Occidental.

All returning locally stranded individuals (LSIs) will be brought to provincial quarantine facilities and local government units.

Only medical personnel of the province and local government units will be allowed to pick up LSIs from the airport and seaport.

Leisure trips and trips from Cebu are still not allowed.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
