NPA awaits ceasefire order

Sunnexdesk

THE local New People’s Army (NPA) is waiting for the implementation of a ceasefire order amid the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

NPA Apolinario Gatmaitan Command spokesperson Ka Juanito Magbanua said as with previous practice the NPA’s regional command will implement a ceasefire once their leadership in their central committee declares it.

In the meantime, the NPA will remain on alert for any offensives launched by government forces.

The National Democratic Front Chief Political Consultant Jose Maria Sison has reportedly recommended to declare a ceasefire amid growing concerns over Covid-19.

Sison’s statement was reportedly already forwarded to the NPA in Negros which is a response to the request of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for a global ceasefire between warring parties for the common purpose of fighting the pandemic. (TDE)
