JEALOUSY allegedly triggered a carpenter to stab his live-in dead at their rented boarding house along Alejano Street in Barangay 2, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental around 4 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022.

At least 55 stab wounds ended the life of Enelisa Petua, 30, indicating that the suspect Jhondad Sase, 33, a resident of Barangay 5, was really furious when he committed the crime, Sipalay City Police Station Chief Major James Latayon said.

Petua died while being treated at the Merceditas Montilla District Hospital in the city.

Sase surrendered to police several hours following the commission of the crime.

The suspect also turned over the kitchen knife he used in stabbing his partner, the police chief said.

Sase told the police that he confronted the victim earlier regarding her alleged chatmate, who is an Indian national.

He asked his partner to choose between him and the foreigner, which eventually led to an argument and later to the gruesome murder.

Investigation showed that Petua was an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia and just arrived in the province a month ago.

She left two of her children who are both below 10 years old, Latayon said, adding that murder charges were already filed against Sase.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
