THE City Government of Bacolod released about 1,280 gadgets and laptops to the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bacolod through the Special Education Fund (SEF) last week.

Councilor Renecito Novero, chairperson of the City Council committee on education, on Sunday, March 7, 2021, said it will be used by teachers, students and personnel for blended and online learning.

He said the teachers handled special subjects within a specialized category of education, especially science.

“For now, the concentration is in the area of Bacolod City National High School for expanding, developing and building up the potentials of our students. It’s an investment for our students,” he added.

Novero noted that these gadgets and laptops were distributed to various schools in the city.

Bacolod Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales in a statement said they are thankful to city government officials for granting their request of 1,000 android tablets worth P7,880 per unit for special science classes (Grades 3-6), STE (Grades 7-10), STEM (Grades 11-12), and selected special education learners.

DepEd also received about 200 i5 laptops worth P34,494 per unit for teachers and personnel facilitating online/offline learning; 80 i7 laptops worth P88,610 per unit for teachers/personnel developing, editing, quality-assuring curriculum materials for blended learning and online learning/broadcasting.

The gadgets were purchased based on the needs of DepEd-Bacolod with the approval of the Local School Board.
