Over 59,000 Bacolodnons inoculated

A TOTAL of 59,945 persons in Bacolod City were already vaccinated with the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Emergency Operations Center (EOC) records showed from March 5 to July 6, 29021, EOC-Task Force and the Covid-19 Vaccination Council (CoVaC) already inoculated a total of 59,945 individuals who belonged to priority groups A1 to A3.

Of the number, 12, 027 persons already received their second doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines.

In the same period, CoVac had administered a total of 71, 972 doses of vaccines. Of the number, 21, 328 doses were AstraZeneca vaccines and 50, 644 doses were Sinovac vaccines.

The city government earlier received an additional 10,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines from the national government.

The vaccines will be administered to the healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), and persons with comorbidities (A3) eligible priority groups who have yet to receive Covid-19 vaccine jabs.

EOC records showed from March 5 to July 6, Bacolod received a total of 93,540 doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines from the national government.

The city has an ongoing vaccination rollout at SM City Bacolod, Ayala Malls Capitol Central and Robinsons Place Bacolod.

Aside from the three malls, the city will also have a vaccination rollout in Barangay Alangilan Friday.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force, earlier said the city is also waiting for additional Pfizer and Moderna vaccines from the National Government and by the fourth week of July, they also expect the delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines which were purchased by the City Government.

"Once it will be delivered to the city, we can administer the priority groups from A1 to A5," he said.

In March, the City Government already made an initial payment of more than P31 million to AstraZeneca for the procurement of 650,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
