Over P2.1-M ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod City

OVER P2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate drug bust operations of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in the city in the last two days.

The operations also led to the arrest of Jason Javelosa, 30, of Purok Laurel, Barangay Mansilingan; John Vergel Oquia, 22, John Matthew Toleo, 25, both residents of Purok BM, Barangay Taculing; and Aiko Fernandez, 33, of Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan.

Javelosa along with his companions Oquia and Toleo were arrested by operatives of Police Station 5 and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) after he sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer at Rosario Heights Subdivision, Barangay Taculing past 1 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession 16 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 300 grams with estimated market value of P2.1 million, the P1,000 marked money, weighing scale, coin purse and plastic container.

Captain John Christopher Masangkay, commander of Police Station 5, said Javelosa was identified as a high value individual, adding that the latter, was under surveillance for almost two weeks before his arrest.

Javelosa’s companions were only drug runners, Magsangkay said.

He said Javelosa, who was temporarily staying at Barangay Taculing, was also imprisoned in 2018 for illegal drug charges.

Upon questioning, Javelosa admitted that his illegal drug supply comes from Manila and that he was operating in the areas of Police Stations 1, 2, 3 and 6 as well as at the downtown area.

Meanwhile, Fernandez, who was identified as a street level individual, was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 7 at Purok Kabugwason in Barangay Mansilingan past 5 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022.

Police recovered from Fernandez’s possession nine sachets of suspected shabu weighing 11 grams with estimated market value of P74, 800, the P500 marked money, P390 cash and pouch.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 5 and 7.

They will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
