P50-M public market soon to rise in Candoni

Teresa D. Ellera

THE municipality of Candoni will soon have a new public market amounting to P50 million.

This, after the Municipal Council members unanimously approved the Resolution No. 2018-051 authorizing Mayor Cicero Borromeo to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Provincial Government for the Construction of the New Candoni Public Market to be funded by the provincial government.

Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the provincial government will not be funding for the construction of the Candoni Public Market. "Capitol will just guarantee and facilitate for the loan applied by the Municipal Government of Candoni from the Municipal Development Fund Office (MDFO) of the Department of Finance," she explained.

Gelvolea said the passage of the resolution for the signing of the MOA with the province is one of the requirements of the MDFO. "Their loan is not yet approved but the resolution is a needed requirement for the LGU to get the loan. The MDFO will have to evaluate and approve their loan."*
