“No shabu price cut. No shabu promo in Western Visayas”.

This was clarified Thursday, December 12, by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Western Visayas.

In a statement issued by the law enforcement agency on its official social media page, as of December 11, the price of shabu per gram still runs at P8,500 to P9,000, except in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City which is estimated at around P5,000 to P6,000 per gram.

PDEA also denied reports that some drug peddlers are offering “buy one, take one” promo on shabu due to the upcoming holiday season.

Overall, PDEA stated the price of drugs remain high and could be attributed to the scarcity of supply due to continuous operations conducted by the agency itself, and the Philippine National Police.

“As far as the operating units are concerned, we would like to reiterate that the issue on the alleged price drop of illegal drugs in our [area of operation] is but a mere speculation, unverified and unvalidated,” they added.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the upcoming holiday observance which begins on Sunday, PDEA said the agency along with its other law enforcement partners have tightened their security in the region’s bus terminals, ports, airports, malls, and other activity areas.

The agency has deployed K9 units and drug enforcement agents which will conduct random paneling and inspections. (TDE)
