PHO expects high cases of dengue this year

PROVINCIAL Health Office (PHO) officer Ernell Tumimbang said he expects high cases of dengue this year, citing their chart and the trend every three years.

Per record of the PHO, there is already an increase of 26 percent as to the number of cases from January to May this year, with 1,133 compared to 832 cases in the same period last year.

As to the number of deaths, ten have already been reported this year which is the same to the deaths last year in the same period.

The deaths were reported in Cadiz City, four; La Carlota City, two; Valladolid, two; and one each in Bago City and E.B. Magalona.

The localities having the most number of dengue cases this year are La Carlota City, Cadiz City, Bago City, Sagay City, Victorias City, Kabankalan City, San Carlos City, Sipalay City, Silay City and E.B. Magalona.

The high cases of dengue were noted in the province despite that the rainy season is just about to start.

Health authorities had been warning the public to maintain cleanliness inside their homes and surroundings and destroy all possible breeding places of mosquitoes that cause dengue.
