Pia Cayetano donates 10 bikes to Bacolod

SENATOR Pia Cayetano has donated 10 mountain bikes with 10 front lights, 10 protective helmets and 10 bike locks to the Bacolod City Government, through her movement “Pilipinas in Action” Bike Program, at at the Government Center Thursday, September 24, 2020.

The donations were received by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, City Administrator Em Ang, Executive Assistant Jose Marie Vargas and Executive Assistant Butch Soliguen from Femmy Lee Magbanua who represented “Pilipinas in Action.”

The City officials then turned the donation over to five personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and five other beneficiaries who are essential services workers.

The DRRMO beneficiaries are Roland Hetrosa, Ryan Solis, Rey Divinagracia, Victor Rosales, and Rogelio Villacastel. The essential services workers are Roniel Rico, Donald Choco, Ronie Lavadia, Edmund Teope, and Antonio Torreno.

The “Pilipinas in Action” started as a movement to mobilize the “bayanihan” spirit of Filipinos in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of its goals is to distribute bicycles to frontliners all over the country.

Ang said the donations are very timely because Bacolod City is under a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status, where there is a limited means of transportation.

“The bikes are environmentally friendly. It also promotes fitness and a good, healthy lifestyle,” she added. (PR)
