Police face blank wall on lawyer’s ambush

THE Talisay City Police Station in Negros Occidental is having a difficulty to establish the motive of the ambush incident which resulted to the injury of a lawyer and her partner in Barangay Matab-ang on December 21.

Superintendent Boots Aseo, city police chief, said lawyer Erfe del Castillo just recently provided them with a statement about the incident.

But despite the testimony of Del Castillo, Aseo said they are still trying to find other possible evidence which can help in their investigation.

Last week, Del Castillo and her partner, Efren Palmares, were on their way to Bacolod City from the Bacolod-Silay Airport when they were ambushed by more than two unidentified armed men in Barangay Matab-ang.

“Our investigator is still returning to the crime scene to look for possible witnesses,” Aseo said.

They are also trying to check other evidence like closed-circuit television cameras installed nearby the scene to trace if they were both followed by the perpetrators from the airport, he added.

Del Castillo is the counsel of Francis Rey Cabuga, one of the stakeholders of the Metro Inn Hotel in Bacolod City.

Aseo said they are looking into the profession of the lawyer as the possible motive but they do not discount other angles in the incident. (GYM)
