PRO-Western Visayas cop injured in accidental firing

A POLICEMAN from Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas in Iloilo City was injured in an accidental firing in front of the Pope John Paul II tower at the corner Rizal-Palanca Streets in Bacolod City on October 10.

Police identified the victim as Police Officer 1 Larry Dago.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim disembarked from his motorcycle to render his duty.

However, when he took his cap, his personal firearm, a .45 caliber pistol, fell to the ground and accidentally discharged. He was hit on his right leg.

He was rushed to a hospital.

Dago was among the 886 policemen from PRO-6 sent to Bacolod to augment the security of the MassKara Festival this month. (GYM)
