SILAY Mayor Mark Andrew Golez has revealed the plans of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental of temporarily converting the city's Yolanda Housing Quarantine Facility into a makeshift hospital.

Golez said Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson had initially discussed with him the plan because of the present situation with provincial-run hospitals already reaching full capacity.

The mayor said they are waiting for the letter from the governor as he expects a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be signed between the City Government and the Capitol for the realization of the plan.

"I have already approved the plan if that could help address the problem and we can have our share to the province," Golez said.

The Yolanda Housing Quarantine Facility is located in the city's Barangay E. Lopez.

The province currently utilizes about 500 units as a provincial quarantine facility, which Lacson will convert into a makeshift hospital.

The remaining 100 units will be retained and will be used as a quarantine facility.

The province will only need to deploy doctors with some medical staff and oxygen for every unit to cater to moderate coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, Golez said.

The provincial government has already designated Valeriano Gatuslao District Hospital in Himamaylan City as a Covid-designated hospital in addition to Valladolid District Hospital and Cadiz City District Hospital.
